The Aims of the Friends of St Michael’s

The objects are to assist the parochial church council

Over the years the Friends have given financial support for many aspects of the maintenance and enhancement of the building. Most notable in recent years is the entrance at the west end, with its beautiful glass porch. Current plans include essential repairs to the external stonework at the east end, and  work to level the floor between the pews and the nave altar, which will add to the appearance in that part of the church as well as its safety.

The Friends also give financial help to maintain the choir Cantores Michaelis, awarding choral scholarships to students from Southampton University.

Membership of the Friends is made up worshippers at St Michael’s, together with people from all over the city and beyond, especially those with connections through marriage, baptism or other family connections or memories of the church. Anyone is most welcome to become a member and support St Michael's church and its work, so that it can be open and available to be enjoyed by all.
